![]() ![]() ![]() After 30 days Igor will no longer save experiments, procedures, data, or graphics until you enter a valid serial number and activation key. If you have not entered the serial number and activation key, Igor runs in fully-functional 30-day evaluation mode. These are provided in an email you received from WaveMetrics. When Igor Pro 8 is first launched, it prompts you for your serial number and activation key. Third-party Windows XOPs may have 64-bit versions available if they were created relatively recently. Almost all XOPs that ship with Igor have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (see Activating More Extensions for details). The primary reason to use the 32-bit application is if you need to use Igor extensions (XOPs) that are 32-bit extensions. The 32-bit application is located within the Igor Pro 8 Folder\IgorBinaries_Win32 directory. On Windows, the 64-bit application is located within the Igor Pro 8 Folder\IgorBinaries_圆4 directory. We recommend that you use the 64-bit application (Igor64.exe) if possible. It is also slightly faster than the 32-bit application. The 64-bit application will allow Igor to use more system memory, which means you can create, open, and manipulate larger data sets. 64-bit Applications (Windows)Īfter installing Igor 8, both a 32-bit application (Igor.exe) and a 64-bit application (Igor64.exe) will be available for use. Igor Pro 8 is supported on Windows 7 or later. See Activating More Extensions for details. All XOPs that ship with Igor Pro on Macintosh are 64-bit. If you need to use 32-bit only XOPs on Macintosh, you must use Igor 7. This means that you must use 64-bit XOPs with Igor 8. On Macintosh, starting with version 8, Igor Pro is a 64-bit application only. The easiest solution for this is to launch the Igor you wish to use and then double-click the experiment. If you have more than one copy of Igor on your hard disk, you will not know which version the Finder will launch when you double-click an Igor experiment. You can have Igor 8 and previous versions of Igor installed on your computer at the same time. To install, drag the Igor Pro 8 Folder to your Applications folder. If you have an existing "Igor Pro 8 Folder" on the disk you'll be installing to, either remove or rename the folder to avoid overwriting the existing Igor files. macOS 10.15 (Catalina) is not currently supported. Igor Pro 8 is supported on macOS 10.10 to 10.14 (10.12 to 10.14 recommended). Wide-Angle Neutron Spin Echo Spectroscopy. If you really want your spherical markers to stand out, you can add specular and shininess attributes. Your Gizmo plot should display the spherical markers with shadows similar to the graph below. Instead add a light object to the Object List (click the + button and choose Light.) and in the Light Properties dialog set the Azimuth to 125 and the Elevation to 25 as shown below:Īfter you added light0 to the Info window, drag it from the Object List and drop it at the top of the Display List. The default sphere on the left does not include computed surface normals so it is not shaded.Īt this point you may decide that the scatter plot is sufficiently good but we are not going to stop here. The custom sphere on the right consists of 50 slices and 50 stacks. The default sphere on the left consists of 10 and 10 stacks. The resulting graph has smoother spheres.Īt this point it may be difficult to notice the difference between the default and custom spheres so I plotted side-by-side, magnified and added shading. This will give you a second menu on the right from which you will choose sphere0 as your object. To do so double click the scatter0 object in the Info Window and select Object from the Fixed Shape menu: Next you need to change the scatter marker to use the new sphere0 object that you just created. In the New Sphere dialog, change the number of slices and stacks to 50, the radius to 0.1, uncheck Use Global Attributes, and check Specify Color. To improve the default marker, create your own sphere object by clicking in the + icon at the bottom of the Info Window Object list and selecting Sphere. Since there are only 25 markers in the graph, each marker is large enough to justify additional computation to make it appear smoother. This is a basic representation of low-density 3D scatter which may be sufficient for some applications. The default scatter plot and the associated Info window look like this: Next right-click the triplet wave data3D in the Data Browser and choose New Gizmo Plot.
